A big shout out to Players of the Season - Most Valued Player. Consistently brilliant. On many fronts, sportsmanship, heightened awareness? A sixth sense? Vision, strategist, team player, individual brilliance, calm/not calm, great attitude. No wonder only a few win it! Respect!

Sheffield Monday Summer 2023 Season (April 2023 - Sept 2023) Champions, Runners Up and Players of the Season

It's safe to say that the longest netball season on the planet has eventually come to a close.

Kings’ coronations, 6000 bank holidays, venue closures and netball world cups slowed us down a bit.

But the fantastic netball with great sportsmanship in each and every division marched on.

There could possibly have been some of the tightest endings The League has seen.  All divisions very evenly matched causing those gritted, dig deep fights to gain promotion and stop demotion.

Our umpires think that La Liga is producing regional standard netball – amazing!

All the divisions are a credit to you all, competitive, great fun with serious exercise, friends and maybe a few pints thrown in.

Sheffield Monday Summer (July to November 21) Champions, Runners Up & MVPs.

Here are the Champions, Runners Up and MVPs of the Sheffield Monday Night Summer 21 season post our eventual great return to INDOOR Netball. I think for a while there we wondered if netball would ever return to our normal. But due to our netballers grit, perseverance and basic overwhelming need to play the great game, back we came. All credit to each and everyone of us.

La Liga Champions, Runners Up & MVP.

Enigma, champions, great champions, consistant champions! A fantastic team who are very difficult to beat. They took the top spot in the top division with 13 out of 14 wins, a large goal difference and 8 clear points. They quite rightly have the respect they deserve and massive congratulations are in order.

Fabulous Foxes and blimey they are! Are La Liga Summer 21 Runners Up. What a team! friends, team spirit and sportsmanship is the order of the day for Foxes with a massive dollop of competitiveness thrown in.

La Liga Most Valued Player.

Fit, fast, furious, amazing to watch and impossible to stop - Mighty Molly Axelby of Team Foxes with 8 nominations.

Division 1 Champions, Runners Up & MVP.

Fizzzzzyyyy O's..are a group of Champions, great girls, great team spirit which got them thru into that champions top spot. Only 1 game separating most of this very competitive division but this teams resolve and nerve got them over the line. Huge congratulations and welcome to La Liga.

Team Shooters, quiet, efficient and deadly! Division 1's superb Runners Up again by 1 game only. What a talented group of netballers, do not mess with The Shooters! Have a fantastic season in La Liga ladies.

Division 1 Most Valued Player.

Anna Radford with 7 nominations of team Yankees is Division 1s MVP - could be a reason or two for this!! What a defender, we all know about it when Anna is on that court.

Division 2 Champions, Runners Up & MVP.

Well division 2 champions were divided by how many games lost as well as won in that top spot battle. The organised, very competitive but with so much sportsmanship, gamesmanship and of course excellent (champions) play, led the fantastic champions Panache Panthers to losing one game less. Huge congratulations to a very well fought season by a great team of friends and workmates.

Very close on the champions tail are team Elite who came thru to division 1 as runners up, just 2 points in it and an actual greater goal difference. Team Elite are a powerful group of players who know what they are doing. No panic, calm, work hard. A great team of experienced ladies who enjoy their game. Huge congratulations to both fabulous teams.

Division 2 Most Valued Player

Massive congratulations to Hannah Hibberd of Abbey Allstars with 6 nominations. A young lass showing us all how to do it with great maturity and poise.

Division 3 Champions, Runners Up & MVP.

A feirce battle between a group of warriors and proud tigers took place in Division 3. With one match in it Warriors fought and claimed that top spot and are superb champions. This team is organised, competitive and up for it. A great set of ladies with great netball attitudes. Warring Winners Warriors with sportsmanship and fantastic leadership is a frightening combination - huge congrats and enjoy division 2 ladies.

Team Tigers were there all the way thru. Hunting! For that final kill! but died at the end (I know!) and as such are entering division 2 as very well worthy runners up. Tigers are a fierce group of ladies who go about their business with winning games high on the agenda but have things in perspective. Great competitive spirit and a great attitude towards others and our sport.

Division 3 Most Valued Player

Jenny Jones again of team tigers is one great visible example of this.. Oh and a fantastic defender and the most valued player of division 3 - brilliant.

Division 4 Champions, Runners Up & MVP.

Team Power Rangers, division 4 fantastic champions, huge congratulations ladies. By 4 points and 1 match, tight at the top. Moving up thru those divisions! A great set of lasses, great sportsmanship and love of the game and it shows. Organised and professional, quiet and consistent - want to see team work at its best - Power Rangers ooze it.

Very close to the Power Rangers Championship top spot and hot on their heels are Division 4 Runners Up the mighty Hurricanes. Always there either as champions or runners up. These ladies love the game, have the passion, know their business and have been together a long time. This is where friends play netball and play it well.

Division 4 Most Valued Player

Blimey what is Katie Swift of the Unicorns doing to aquire 7 MVP nominations. I want some of it. Huuuge congratulations, amaazing!

Division 5 Champions, Runners Up & MVP.

Well, I think team Netstars sorted out division 5. A huge goal difference, some obvious shooting ability in this team. Very very worthy champions. Cool, calm, collected.. Organised and efficient. Excellent netballers who love the game and get on with it. A team who are a credit to our great game.

Division 5 runners up, a fantastic group of radiographers with a great team name of X-Rayders. A strong set of lasses with again a great netball attitude. Love the game, love all that netball brings with it. Great sportsmanship and care for others.. Its a brilliant combination.

Division 5 Most Valued Player

Charlotte Cullen of team solicitors the Kennedettes.. Legally minded and MVP with 9.. Thats nine nominations! Thats not far off a nomination per game played. Absolutely outstanding.

I apologise..I'm so late in posting this missive.. I am blaming Christmas, holidays and a house move. But got there in the end! We are now on full throttle in the winter season and it all feels very normal, netball is back!

Sheffield Sunday Winter 2019 Winners, Runners Up and Player of the Season.

The Super Sheffield Sunday 2019 Season has come to an end, and what a cracker of a season it has been! This season there once again has been the battle of the beasts for the number 1 spot! Yet, all teams have become more fierce and determined as the season progressed.

The race for the title left three teams; BlueJays, Sunday Warriors and the Hangovers, busting their balls and shooting their shots for the winning goal! This year BlueJays just missed the top two spots, letting Sunday Warriors swoop in to reclaim their title, handing down the Runners Up position to Hangovers. A brilliant season, full of brilliant girls, with brilliant sportsmanship.

Someone who has stood out throughout this season, bringing her A game in attack and defence, covering the circle like the versertile queen she is, is Elle Lee. Congratulations on becoming; The League Sheffield Sunday Winter 2019, Player of the Season!

As one comes to a close, another season awaits in its path - a big shout out to the rest of our Sunday Morning teams: Tigers, Sparks, Thunderbirds, Yorkies, Ham's Hens, what a cracking bunch of nettballers you are.

Sheffield Summer Season 29/07/2019 –19/11/2019 Results, Winners, Champions and Super Star Players

The Summer into Winter season end and as per excellent netball normal, close, well matched divisions fought their way through to an exciting and nail-biting season finale and your WINNERS are below. “History is written by winners” Napoleon Bonaparte. “Netballers are winners” Janice Enright.

La Liga

Well extraordinary team Enigma regain their crown with an amazing 4 game, 16-point lead and suffered only 1 loss throughout the whole season and as such are the MIGHTY La Liga CHAMPIONS of THE League Summer 2019 season, the top team, the team to beat after an amazing Enigma dominated season. Then La Liga super team Stardust, everyone’s constant competitors, always at the top and again hot on the heels as Runners Up, but only just! A special mention to Hallam Hustlers who were pipped at the post, only by Stardust’s goal difference. Huge congratulations to all fantastic teams, making their own netball history and making their netball presence felt, bring on the Winter season.

Division 1

It took the last game of the season to sort out the top three in Division 1, with 4 points between them but team Foxes held their nerve and with that winner’s purpose and intensity fought their way back into La Liga and are once again Division 1 CHAMPIONS. Four points behind them are team Ballsaints who, even whilst struck down with injuries and welcoming and waiting for babies carried on, eyes on the prize, showing the skill and determination required to get into Runners up position.  Team YoYos lost out on 2cnd place by a 25-goal difference only. Tight at the top, no time for a rest, straight onto the next season!

Division 2

Here we have a team that know what they are doing, heads down, hard workers, fierce and focused - Division 2 CHAMPIONS team Frecheville. 10 points and two games in front of their competitors, team Jaguars making everything look nice and easy and of course straight back to Division 1. Jaguars have had their last season with us after playing for many a year, thanks for your time and netball with us, it’s been a pleasure.

Division 3

Flyshot are on form, back to their winning ways, and stormed thru division 2 with a 10-point, 2 game advantage over their rivals The Yankees. They are in that top position, in charge, sorting it outtt. Runners up team Yankees head back into division 2 with a very comfortable 10-point lead over 3rd place, team Flames, will they stay? Or will they return? Bring on the Winter season and good luck and safe netballing to both fantastic teams.

Division 4

Well a battle to the end, who was going to Division 3 as CHAMPIONS and who as Runners up? Team super sharp Shooters made sure and with 4 points popped into that top position and are Division 4’s mighty CHAMPIONS. Their mission is to now stay in Division 3. Very hot on their heels and chasing and with a better goal difference the strong and tough Rotherham Allstars came in as excellent Runners Up, their mission also to stay in Division 3. Enjoy that Winter season ladies.

Division 5

I think it is safe to say that Division 5 was the most closely matched this season, only a few points separated most of the division. Team Warriors sorted it and took the CHAMPIONS spot in their efficient and organised manner with 9 from 14 wins and a massive goal difference. By 1 point only team Tapton waited until the last match of the season to pop into Runners up and continue their rise. Huge congratulations to both fantastic teams and have a wonderful Winter season with Christmas included as a bonus.

Division 6

Well! The Well Wasps made sure they were off to Division 5 as CHAMPIONS with a 6-point lead and a very healthy goal difference. This team has a great attitude and great sportsmanship and seems to be pretty gooood at netball! Runners Up was quite a fight between Abbey Allstars and The Hurricanes, with The Allstars popping into the 2cnd spot courtesy of 1 point. Where would we be without this tension, excitement, the winner’s mentality, focus, commitment, team spirit, team talks and everything else all things netball!

Division 7

Division 7 CHAMPIONS, the mighty Unicorns held their nerve, kept to task, firm and focused and flew into pole position. The deciding factor was only an 18-point goal difference from Runners up team Power Rangers hot on their heels. It took the last match of the season to decide, down to the wire, tight at the top, no pressure!! Huge congratulations to both superb teams who deserve promotion after a very exciting ending.

We very sadly say goodbye this season to Teams ABC, Well Wolves, Jaguars and Rebound. All fabulous teams have played in The League since time began and have been a great group of sporting ladies thru many changes, jobs, babies, injuries and generally life’s great mess. We hope netball will continue for them as individuals in some way shape or form.

The players of the Summer 2019 Season are;

La Liga – Katy Raynor of Team Hallam Hustlers with 7 nominations

Division 1 – Kirsty Courtney-May of Team Ballsaints with 6 nominations

Division 2 – Sally Ann Hunt of Team Thunder with 6 nominations

Division 3 – Charlotte Barnett of Team Panache Panthers with 5 nominations

Down to the last match team Dynamites popped into Runners Up position in a division where 1 match made the difference between the top 6 teams – Tight at the top! Welcome back to La Liga ladies and have a fantastic Summer season.

Division 2

Division 2 was an issue between the top 3 and bottom 3 teams, anyone could have gone up and anyone could have gone down. So, based on the very last match of the season, Rotherham Hotshots held their nerve and shot into prime position and took the division with 3 points and as such are Division 2 very worthy CHAMPIONS. Team Swoosh swept superbly into Runners Up place in a very hotly contested division and we welcome both excellent teams into Division 1.

Division 3

Team Revels are Division 3 resplendent CHAMPIONS with a 4-point lead and a big goal difference. Maltby Stingers are not at all far behind and take Runners Up position with a point to spare. Well done to both brilliant teams in what again has gone down to the last matches of the season to decide. Have a fantastic Division 2 Summer season Ladies.

Division 4

The top two teams in Division 4 pulled away with games in hand with team fantastic Flames taking that top position and going into Division 3 as red-hot CHAMPIONS. 4 points behind them mega Maltbees made their mark as Runners Up and may both teams keep fired up and buzzing along into the Summer season and Division 3.

Division 5

The Rotherham Allstar ladies shone and sorted out Division 5 making it look nice and easy with a 2-game lead and are very well-deserved CHAMPIONS, but behind the mighty Allstars things got a little tighter particularly in the middle of the table but masterful Team Netstars made sure and took second place with points to spare. An amazing season for both superb teams and welcome to Division 4.

Division 6

Division 6 CHAMPIONS, Team Tapton smoothly took pole position with 2 games in hand after playing some fantastic netball. The rest of the division was divided by 1 game each and came right down to the wire and the last match decided that Dronfield Defenders (now Phoenix) flew into Runners Up position. Huge congratulations to both fantastic teams and have a mega summer in Division 5.

Division 7

Well Thundercat’s seriously Thundered (can’t help it!) into division 6 with a two-game lead and as such are the Division 7 mighty CHAMPIONS. Behind them and fighting for Runners Up were 4 excellent teams, it was close, it was tight, it went down to 5 points of goal difference and team Rebels took it. Phew, massive congratulations ladies and we wish you well in Division 6.

We very sadly say goodbye this season to Team GG’s and Mavericks. Both fabulous teams have played in The League since time began and have been a great group of sporting ladies thru many changes, jobs, babies, injuries and generally life’s great mess. I’m sure netball will continue for them as individuals in some way shape or form – I do hope so.

The players of the Spring 2019 Season are;

The race for the title left three teams; BlueJays, Sunday Warriors and the Hangovers, busting their balls and shooting their shots for the winning goal! BlueJays just missing the spot, whilst Warriors and Hangovers tied with goal difference. However, the Hangovers swooped the title Champions for the first time, handing down the Runners Up position to Sunday Warriors.
